PRECISION AND FOCUS. INSIDE OUT.
MIND OVER MATTER IS THE KEY TO MASTERING THE GAME.
-
Azariah "Aya" Rusher is a 21-year-old D1 tennis player and Business Management student at FSU. Originally from New Hampshire, he was homeschooled and currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida, as the 2025-2026 Team Co-Captain for FSU Men's Tennis and serves as the Co-Chair of the ACC SAAC.
-
Azariah is defined by his maturity, cross-cultural adaptability, and a balance of ambition and compassionate action. His core belief is that “Discipline Creates Freedom," and his life is deeply rooted in resilience, integrity, faith, and family. He rejects complacency, focusing on continuous self-improvement through mindful routines, journaling, and a commitment to leading by example through service.
-
Azariah brings an intense and highly physical style of play to the court, combined with a love for coming to the net. He is recognized for his "all-court game," pairing high tennis IQ with mental toughness. As a 2025 Bedford Cup Champion who has reached a career-high 13+ UTR, his true edge lies in his adaptability—he is a fast, balanced mover who can seamlessly transition between singles and doubles, utilizing compact and efficient strokes to remain highly effective under pressure.
-
Azariah differentiates himself by blending high-performance athletics with emotional intelligence, a warrior ethos forged by Stoicism and the Samurai Code (Bushido), and a focus on community leadership. His dedication to strategic business planning allows him to identify as more than just a tennis player, ensuring his professional identity is as structured and versatile as his game. While many athletes focus purely on match highlights, Azariah focuses on the "inputs"—the grueling reality of training, nutrition, and mental discipline—proving that inner peace leads to outer dominance. He acts as a "Trusted Captain" to his audience, aiming to empower young people rather than just entertain them.
